Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11th
Reminder, Owl’s Crossing WILL be open for school on Veteran’s Day!
November is Family Literacy Month
This November marks the 24thyear that Massachusetts is acknowledging and celebrating the important role that families play in their children’s literacy development. Family Literacy Month is an opportunity to engage parents, schools, and the community to support children in out-of-school time learning. In celebration of Literacy Month, each student will go home with a gift from Owl’s Crossing, The Biggest Apple Ever, by Steven Kroll. Once you have read the book with your family, your child can put up a sticker on our Owl reading chart. We hope to fill it up with lots of owl stickers!
Registration Has Begun
Registration for the 2021-2022 begins on November 1st for Owl’s Crossing Families. Registration forms have gone home with your child. We provided two scenarios for programming: Regular Programming and COVID Programming. Our hope is to go back to Pre-COVID Regular Programming. If it is not possible, we have included Alternate Programming on the back side of our Rate Sheet and Registration Form. We ask that you complete both scenarios and make your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice options. In house OCP families have first opportunity to register beginning November 1st. On November 15th registration will be opened to the public. A few classes may have to be chosen by lottery depending on demand. We will try our best to honor your first choice. If a lottery is necessary for some classes, we will post the classes by November 11th.
Docent Art and Yoga with Mrs. Adams
Our 2nd Docent Art Activity for PreK Classes will be November 4th and November 10th. Mrs. Adams will be discussing the works of Piet Mondrian and Abstract Art as well as Joan Miro and Surrealism. Our 2nd Yoga Story Adventures for Nursery Classes will be November 10th and November 11th. The children will go on a “Safari” using their yoga poses!
In past years we have been able to do a Thanksgiving Feast at school. Unfortunately, with our current restrictions we will not be able to have a Feast. Therefore, we have decided to focus our celebration on a school wide activity promoting friendship. Each class will be making a portion of our “We Join Hands to Give Thanks” Banner. Keep an eye out for it on our last days of school before Thanksgiving!
Owl’s Crossing Activity Bags
On the last day of school before Thanksgiving Break all children will go home with their Owl’s Crossing Bag filled with calendars and activities for December and January. Some activities will be “just for fun” and others will be “homework” to be returned on February 1st and 2nd. This is our version of “remote” learning! All age appropriate and intended to promote learning through play and hands on activities. Enjoy!
An Owl’s Crossing Favorite song:
Thank you for the Earth and Sky,
Thank you for the birds that fly.
Thank you for the food we grow,
Thank you for the streams that flow.
Thank you, thank you this we say,
Thank you for Thanksgiving Day!
Hoot of the Month
“Why did the turkey cross the road”?
“It was the chicken’s day off!”
Quote of the Month
“What if today we were just grateful for everything?”…Charlie Brown
We wish you all the happiness that Thanksgiving brings!
