September 2022 Newsletter
Welcome to Owl’s Crossing Preschool
Orientation, September 12th and 13th, First Days, September 14th and 15th
We hope that you found your “Welcome Letter” informative. You will also be given a handbook at Orientation with detailed information regarding policies and procedures. We are excited to begin the 2022-2023 school year. It is very important to us that you communicate any needs you or your child might have related to their time at Owl’s Crossing. Please feel free to see us in the office or call any time. Your child’s happiness and well being is of the utmost importance to us.
Drop Off/Pick UP Procedure
Drop Off/Pick Up will begin on our first days of school. Please refer to our Drop Off/Pick Up Procedure. It is imperative that we keep Country Way clear of all traffic. Please queue from the parking lot across the street if there is a line in the school lot. If you choose to walk your child, please park across the street, and walk across. Please hold your child’s hand as Country Way is very busy.
The first few months of Nursery Classes are geared towards socialization and learning to separate from parents and caregivers. Along with learning to adjust to school, we will be very busy using Playdough, sand, rice and other manipulatives to strengthen our little hands while also making new friends, playing with others, learning to work as a group, singing new songs, and having fun in our new environment. These are important milestones for our “little owls”!
Color and Shape Days for All Classes
Each month we will explore a new color and shape. September is “Red” and “Circle” month. We will celebrate the week of September 26th. Don’t forget to wear red to school!
Monthly Specialists for All Classes
Please check the monthly calendar for details!
Letter Days for PreK Classes
Each week the PreK classes will discover a new letter. Letter Days for PreK Classes begin on September 28th with Letter “Aa”.
Reading with TLC for PreK
Reading with TLC is a research-based, clinically proven method with materials that provides opportunities to understand phonemic awareness through play based materials. “Lively Letters” is a fun, interactive program within Reading with TLC. Our teachers have been trained on the proper use of “Lively Letters” by Michelle Morrissey-Smith, former School Committee Member and Reading Specialist in the Brockton Public School System. This will be our sixth year using “Lively Letters” with the PreK children and they love it! We will introduce it to the PreK children on September 28th beginning with the sounds of “P” and “B”.
